I was just about to say that ^^^
I’m pretty sure the Soviets only managed the heads (still very impressive)- what Pitt did was actually freeze the dogs, drain them of blood, put the blood back in, and then re-animate them. It was, I think, part of a study in the effects of flash-freezing on complex organisms (particularly mammals); it’s end goal was something to do with studying humans who had survived being frozen alive, and flash freezing organs for better transport.
